Why I built Threptic

I'm Aaron. Before building Threptic, I work as an exercise physiologist — and I see the same thing happen over and over: people would start tracking their nutrition with real intention, and quit within a couple weeks. Not because they didn't care, but because logging food had become its own chore, layered on top of an app they had to remember to even open.

I didn't want to build another app. I wanted something as easy as texting a friend — send a photo, get an answer back. So that's what Threptic is: text a photo or description of your meal, and get calories, protein, carbs, and fat back in seconds.

Threptic is a solo project — no big team, no VC funding, built by someone who's spent real time watching what actually makes people stick with tracking, and what makes them quit. If you have feedback, good or bad, I'm the one reading it: info@threptic.com.

"The best nutrition tool is the one you'll actually use."

About

Threptic (adj.) · threp·tic · /ˈθrɛptɪk/

From the Greek θρεπτικός (threptikós), "able to feed, nourishing" — rooted in τρέφειν (trephein), "to nourish."
Of or pertaining to nutrition; that which nourishes.

It's a real word — rare, mostly forgotten, tucked into dictionaries since the early 1900s. We built a company around it because it means exactly what we do: nourishment, made simple.
