Threptic ("Threptic," "we," "us," or "our") provides an SMS-based nutrition tracking service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.

1. Information We Collect

  • Phone number — collected when you first text our service.

  • Messages you send us — including meal descriptions and photos you text for nutrition estimation.

  • Usage data — message timestamps, frequency, and interaction history with our service.

  • Nutrition estimates — calorie, protein, carb, and fat estimates generated from your messages.

  • Payment information — if you subscribe, payment is processed by our payment processor (Stripe); we do not store your full card number.

  • Coach linkage data — if you link your account to a coach, your logged meals become visible to that coach (see Section 4).

 

We do not require an account, email, or name to use the core service.

 

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Analyze meal photos and descriptions and provide nutrition estimates

  • Maintain your conversation history so we can respond with relevant context

  • Send you requested replies and, if you haven't opted out, occasional check-in messages

  • Process subscription billing

  • Improve the accuracy and quality of our service

  • Comply with legal obligations

 

3. SMS/Text Messaging Data

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party, except as necessary to provide the messaging service itself (e.g., our SMS delivery provider).

All other categories of information may be shared as described in Section 4 below.

 

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We use the following third-party providers to operate Threptic. Each processes data only as necessary to perform their function for us:

5. Coach-Linked Accounts

If you link your account to a coach using an invite code, your logged meals, nutrition estimates, and message history become visible to that coach through their dashboard. You can be unlinked from a coach by contacting us at info@threptic.com. Linking to a coach is entirely optional and only happens if you explicitly text a coach's invite code.

 

6. Data Retention

We retain your message and meal log history for as long as your account is active, so that our service can maintain conversation context and your nutrition history. If you text STOP to unsubscribe, we stop sending you messages but may retain historical data as required for legal, billing, or dispute-resolution purposes. You may request deletion of your data by contacting us at info@threptic.com.

7. Your Choices

  • Opt out: Reply STOP at any time to stop receiving messages.

  • Help: Reply HELP for support information.

  • Access/deletion: Contact us at info@threptic.com to request a copy of your data or its deletion.

 

8. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections between our services. However, standard SMS text messages are not end-to-end encrypted, and you should avoid sending highly sensitive personal information over text beyond what's needed to use the service.

 

9. Children's Privacy

Threptic is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.

 

10. Health Information Disclaimer

Threptic provides nutrition estimates for general wellness and habit-tracking purposes. It is not a medical device, and the information we provide is not medical advice. See our Terms of Service for details.

By using Threptic, you agree to these legal terms. These conditions outline the rules for nutrition tracking, account usage, and liability.

Threptic Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Threptic's SMS-based nutrition tracking service ("Service"). By texting our number, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Threptic. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

 

2. Description of Service

Threptic allows you to text a photo or description of a meal to receive an automated estimate of calories, protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Threptic may also send occasional check-in messages if you have not opted out.

 

3. Not Medical Advice

Threptic is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nutrition estimates are generated using AI-based image and text analysis and are approximate — actual values may vary meaningfully from our estimates. Threptic is intended for general wellness and habit-tracking purposes only.

If you have a medical condition, including any eating disorder, diabetes, or other condition affected by diet, consult a qualified healthcare provider before making dietary decisions based on information from this Service. Do not use Threptic as a substitute for professional medical guidance.

 

4. Accuracy of Estimates

 

Nutrition estimates are provided "as is" and are based on automated analysis of the information you provide. We do not guarantee the accuracy of any estimate. Portion sizes, hidden ingredients, and image quality all affect accuracy.

 

5. Messaging Terms

  • Message and data rates may apply.

  • Message frequency varies based on your usage (typically a few messages per day when actively logging meals).

  • Reply STOP at any time to opt out of all messages.

  • Reply HELP for support information.

  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

 

6. Subscription & Billing

  • New users receive a 14-day free trial from the date they confirm opt-in.

  • After the trial, continued use requires an active paid subscription, billed either monthly or annually as selected at checkout.

  • Subscriptions automatically renew until canceled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

  • Coaches pay a separate monthly seat fee for access to the coach dashboard and client-monitoring features.

  • All payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card information.

  • Fees are non-refundable except as required by law.

 

7. Coach-Linked Accounts

 

If you link your account to a coach via an invite code, you consent to that coach viewing your logged meals and nutrition history through their dashboard. You may unlink from a coach at any time by contacting info@threptic.com

8. Acceptable Use

 

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

  • Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service

  • Impersonate another person when using the Service

  • Use the Service to submit content that is abusive, harassing, or otherwise harmful

 

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

 

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that nutrition estimates will be accurate.

 

10. Limitation of Liability

 

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Threptic and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to damages arising from reliance on nutrition estimates provided by the Service, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory.

 

11. Termination

 

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time by replying STOP.

 

12. Changes to These Terms

 

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

 

13. Governing Law

 

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of TEXAS, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
